The Skilled stream of the Migration Porgram is designed to attract migrants who make a significant contribution to the Australian economy, and fill positions where no Australian workers are available. Skilled migrants have very high participation rates in the workforce, helping to stimulate economic growth, which results in more jobs.
Step 1 - Eligible Occupations - Skills Assessment
To apply for a skilled migration visa, applicants must have a nominated occupation that is listed on the relevant skilled occupation list.
Step 2 - Expression of Interest (EOI)
Prospective applicants must submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) through the Department of Home Affairs' SkillSelect system. The EOI details their skills and attributes, and it's used to calculate their points score.
Applicants are assessed based on a points system that takes into account various factors, including age, English language proficiency, skilled work experience, education qualifications, and other criteria. Calculate how many points you have through https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/help-support/departmental-forms/online-forms/points-calculator
Step 3 - Invitation to Apply for State Nomination & Visa
Applicants who meet the minimum points score and have an eligible occupation may receive an invitation to apply for a state nomination & skilled migration visa.
